Diagnosis and management of:

Fibroids

Have you been diagnosed with fibroids?

Fibroids are growths from the muscle layer of the uterus.  They can cause heavy bleeding, pressure symptoms if they grow very big and rarely, pain.

Dr Watson-Jones can assess the size and location of your fibroids and offer and discuss an individual treatment plan based on your symptoms.  This could be surgery or treating your heavy bleeding.

 Abnormal bleeding

Are you having extremely heavy periods?

Have you had bleeding after the menopause?  Are you having bleeding between your periods?

None of these are normal and require an opinion from a specialist gynaecologist.

Dr Watson-Jones can work with you to find out the cause of your abnormal bleeding and an appropriate treatment plan.

Ovarian cysts

When most women hear they have an ovarian cyst, they think the worst.  However, there are many different types of ovarian cysts and some do not even need treatment.

Dr Watson-Jones can assess your ultrasound and arrange further investigations if required.  If your cyst requires surgery, this can usually be done using keyhole surgery, so that you have a shorter stay in hospital and a quicker recovery.

Abnormal cervical screening test (Pap Smear) & Colposcopy

Do you have a referral for a colposcopy? This is an examination that needs to be performed by a gynaecologist. It involves looking at the cervix with a microscope. Many women are very scared to have a colposcopy.  At Integral Obstetrics & Gynaecology, you will be made to feel at ease, and your procedure will be performed calmly and respectfully.

You are welcome to attend Integral Obstetrics & Gynaecology to have your routine cervical screening tests as well, if a female clinician is preferred or you have particular anxiety about having this test done.

Pelvic pain

Are your periods extremely painful? Are you taking days off school or work regularly because of pelvic pain? At Integral Obstetrics and Gynaecology, we will work with you to try to find the cause of your pain and the best treatments.  In many cases, this may involve keyhole surgery, looking for a condition called endometriosis.
